New York City is the Mecca of Underground Music. BreyKing and Santos Partyhouse are synonymous with bringing these artists to the people. The Soundcheck Show is the best place in New York City to check for the hottest Underground Artists, Poets, Musicians and Fashion Designers. This month's Soundcheck Show is going down on March 12th at 7pm at the Santos PartyHouse. This is a HUGE show. If you are in NYC then you need to be here next Friday night. Set to perform is Ja'Shayla (her track "Si Papi) was featured in DJ Blazita's set last night on the Hot 97 Takeover segment), WordSpit, Von Sway (who premiered his music video for "Here I Am" on BET) and that's just to name a few. Fashion will be presented by Elegant Boredom. DJ Gully will be on the 1 and 2's. Mo' Brown Suga will be hosting. Drink Specials are 2 for 1 from 7 til' 8. Admission is only $7. ($5 with an RSVP to Soundcheck@SantosPartyHouse.com). What more can you ask for on a Friday night? This is where I'll be. See you there…
Where would my life be if it weren't for Ericka? I probably would be deprived from a lotta cool things, with the exception of India Arie, if it weren't for her. Anywhoo, Kenny Keil mashed up some memorable hip-hop album covers with Marvel comic book characters. My personal favorite is "Dare Iz A Darkseid". View the covers after the jump.

Kia Motors America (KMA) today announced the release of Grammy-nominated and Wondaland Arts Society/Atlantic Records recording artist Janelle Monae’s song, "Come Alive (War of the Roses)", created exclusively for the Kia Soul Collective: a hand-selected group comprised of some of today’s hottest artists, thought leaders and influencers. The song, created to document the sound of “how she rolls,” is currently available for a free download at http://www.kiasoulcollective.com/home/music, along with behind-the-scenes footage of her studio session. “Come Alive (War of the Roses)" is also the first taste of new music from Monae’s epic new album set for an early 2010 release.
