I met 14KT on the same night the above picture was taken. He's a real humble dude and according to him, this track is a remix from three years ago that he did for Now On that was only released in Japan. You can read the rest of his words on the song over at Potholes.
EMERGENCE is presenting two groundbreaking showcases at the 2010 South By Southwest (SXSW) music festival in Austin: DXSW (Detroit Hip-Hop showcase) and The Revival: SXSW (Women in Hip-Hop showcase). Curated by Invincible, who will perform at both events, these showcases aim to build unity and a stronger spirit of cooperation within the music movements in which EMERGENCE is rooted. These showcases are generously sponsored by SplinkMe.com, marking the launch of this innovative company and website which aims to link small businesses with musicians and other influencers towards successful sponsorships.
DXSW features a dozen of Detroit Hip-Hop's finest, headlined by the legendary Slum Village, in their first ever SXSW appearance. Black Milk will also be performing along with live musicians AB and Daru. Detroit is known internationally for its unique musical innovations, most recently spread by super-producer and artist Jay Dilla, who joined the ancestors nearly 5 years ago. Dilla's younger brother Illa J will be hosting the event along with Marv Won, with musical interludes provided by DJs/Producers House Shoes and 14KT.
The Revival: SXSW will highlight a wide spectrum of regions and styles throughout the women in Hip-Hop movement, and is headlined by veteran Philadelphia emcee Bahamadia making her SXSW premiere. Other performers featured include Tiye Phoenix, Chicago's own Psalm One, Toronto emcee Eternia, as well as Diamond, best known for her work with Crime Mob. The event will be filmed for a follow-up short documentary in EMERGENCE's The Revival series, which gives viewers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the growing Women in Hip-Hop movement. The first documentary in The Revival series can be viewed here, with follow-up interviews with the featured artists here.
