DMV trio Diamond District are proud to announce the release of a trifecta of beats from their celebrated album In The Ruff. The instrumental triple threat includes tracks "Streets Won’t let Me Chill," "In the Ruff," and "Off the Late Night"

Released at the end of 2009 through Mello Music Group, In the Ruff garnered much praise and acclaim from the hip-hop community, making countless year-end lists including hip-hop heavyweight websites KevinNottingham.com, PopMatters.com, and DJ Premier's blog, to name a few. The album also brought an avalanche of well-deserved attention to the until-now underrated DMV hip-hop scene. The past meets the future on In The Ruff, where beats steeped in the boom-bap of yesteryear collide with dynamic verses from the DMV crew, giving fans the world over a taste of the D.C. flavor to savor.

To celebrate the triumph of In the Ruff, Diamond District are now dropping a special triple pack of instrumental beats featuring the tracks "Streets Won’t let Me Chill," "In The Ruff" and "Off the Late Night." Combining an infectious drum pattern, a simple chord progression and an addictive hook, "The Streets Won’t let Me Chill" instrumental lays the foundation for a backbeat driven street anthem. Stripped down to its instrumental form, "In the Ruff" reveals an essence of rawness that the DMV hip-hop scene is renown for, while the "Off The Late Night" instrumental gives beat junkies a generous fix of Diamond District's soul-infused sounds.

This special release of In the Ruff instrumental tracks is available now through Mello Music Group.

Joining forces once again with Asics/Onitsuka Tiger, Audible Treats will distribute special freebies and they will also be awarding one lucky attendee with a free Maschine midi controller courtesy of a special collaboration with leading music software and instrument company, Native Instruments. Joining in the festivities as official media partners for the showcase are Beyond Race Magazine, BrooklynVegan.com, CokeMachineGlow.com, and The Smoking Section. As an official SXSW-sponsored showcase all badge and wristband holders will be allowed in for free, while a limited number of tickets will be available for purchase at the door.

Oddisee, of the celebrated group Diamond District, gives The Stand (Twitter.com/StandOnDemand) insight into the many facets of his life in interview. As an integral part of Oddisee's life, the rapper talks about the double meaning of his name setting the stage for his rhyming career from a young age and how his hometown of D.C. has shaped his music - hardcore hip-hop without the violence. However, this is one artist not to be restricted to a single genre. His love and passion for music keep tracks fresh as Oddisee prides himself on taking bits and pieces of many genres and incorporating them into his music. His motto, "Keep it fresh, keep it alive, and keep it relevant," has kept the emcee on the cutting edge of music without forgetting his hip-hop roots. Living in the political capital of the US has also shaped Oddisee as an activist, and has led him to constantly try to relay a message through his music. Oddisee closes the interview with, "You gotta stand for something or we'll fall for anything." With an excellent group effort in 2009 and an equally impressive solo project to kick off the new year, it's clear that Oddisee, at the very least, is standing up and being heard as a name to be recognized in music.

The multi-talented emcee and producer Oddisee is back to the boom-bap with his "Kansas Bay (South Central Remix)". After finding success with the celebrated Diamond District crew, Oddisee has stepped back out on his own with a new 24-track instrumental album, Traveling Man. Inspired and informed by his journeys to Australia, Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America, Oddisee has captured the sounds of hip-hop the world over on Traveling Man, out now digitally and available as a limited edition vinyl pressing on February 23rd. The sonic voyage continues with the "Kansas Bay (South Central Remix)" featuring Kansas City native, Stik Figa. The Midwest meets the West Coast in this re-imagining, which finds Stik Figa riding the wave of a beat steeped in G-funk and dripping with bass best suited for a low rider. As Oddisee explains, "Bay Area hip-hop has been popular in Kansas for years, and Stik Figa uses a Too $hort-esque flow to tell the comedic story of an out-of-towner's unfortunate luck on 'Kansas Bay'." Prepare yourself for your sonic travels, and let Oddisee guide you on this aural adventure from the heartland to the left coast and back again.

Oddisee's Traveling Man is available digitally, on cd, & vinyl via Mello Music Group.
